CAIRO – Acting head of the National Institute of Standards (NIS) said on Sunday Egypt ranks the first among African and Arab countries in offering standard services and using metrology in scientific research.
Speaking to MENA, he said the institute represents the Egyptian state at the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM), and also supplies various production and service sectors and cooperates with government agencies, scientific, industrial and service bodies, with regard to measurement standards.
Gamal added that the institute implements measurement systems in industry, production and service sectors to achieve competitiveness of the Egyptian product, pointing out the importance of measurement in monitoring and controlling the quality of industrial outputs and ensuring that they meet market needs.
He said the institute is entrusted with establishing, preserving, maintaining and developing national measurement standards for measuring physical quantities and is working to make them conform to international standards.
