CAIRO – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates affirmed that Egypt and the Netherlands enjoy relations based on principles of mutual respect and fruitful cooperation that serve the interests of the two friendly peoples.
He pointed out to both countries’ keenness to continue working to enhance and deepen bilateral relations and elevate them to broader horizons.
In a joint press conference with his Dutch counterpart David van Weel in Cairo, Abdelatty welcomed the Dutch foreign minister’s visit, which is his first outside Europe since assuming office.
He said this reflects the importance of the distinguished relations between the two friendly countries and their continuous development at all levels.
Abdelatty added that this visit reaffirms the two countries’ keenness to continue working to further enhance and deepen co-operation in political, economic, investment, and tourism fields, especially boosting trade volume and Dutch investments in Egypt
He cited the immense potential of the Egyptian market, in addition to the comprehensive economic reform program that Egypt is implementing to provide an investor-friendly environment and advance relations with the Netherlands.
He also referred to ongoing efforts to organize a major celebration marking 50 years of cooperation between Egypt and the Netherlands in the field of water resources, expressing hope for further cooperation in this area.
Abdelatty said the talks reflected both sides’ keenness to continue efforts to strengthen relations.
Abdelatty added that he agreed with the Dutch minister on the importance of maintaining regular high-level meetings on various political levels, continuing bilateral consultations within multilateral frameworks, and mutual support for nominations in various international organizations.
He expressed his appreciation for the Netherlands’ support for the Egyptian candidate, Dr Khaled El-Anany, who won the position of Director-General of UNESCO.
