Egypt and Nepal are linked with extended constructive and cooperative ties within the framework of the United Nations and its different organisations, as well as international forums and Non-Aligned Movement.
This statement by Minister of Emigration and Expatriate Affairs Soha el-Gendi came during her meeting with Nepali ambassador to Cairo Sushil Lamsal at the New Administrative Council.
The minister highlighted Egypt’s keenness to consolidate co-operation with Nepal in the tourism, health and cultural sectors.
“Egypt receives a lot of Nepali tourists annually and many Egyptians like travelling to Nepal to enjoy the tourist attractions,” el-Gendi added.
The minister noted that a proposal will be made to the relevant authorities to issue Nepali citizens with e-visas to visit Egypt and vice-versa.
El-Gendi also pointed to Al-Azhar’s receiving students from all over the world. She also referred to ‘Egypt is the Beginning of Your Way’ initiative which sheds light on prominent figures who graduated from Egyptian universities.
For his part, the Nepali ambassador said many Nepali students are studying at Egyptian universities at their own expense or through scholarships.
The envoy noted that Egypt and Nepal share many customs and traditions, and so Egyptian visitors of Nepal do not feel that they are strangers.
