Minister of Communications and Information Technology (CIT) Eng. Raafat Hindi held a meeting on Tuesday with Chairman of the Information Technology Industry Chamber, Khaled Ibrahim, to discuss means to boost co-operation in developing Egypt’s digital industry and enhancing its regional and international competitiveness.
Discussions during the meeting focused on future strategies to advance the digital sector, attract global technology companies, and encourage investment in establishing data centres in Egypt.
Minister Hindi reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to deepening collaboration with the ICT Industry Chamber, describing it as a strategic partner in supporting startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and fostering a strong ecosystem for digital innovation.
He emphasised that empowering Egyptian startups and SMEs to scale up and expand their digital exports remains a top priority, noting that investment in capacity-building and digital skills development is a cornerstone of the sector’s growth strategy.
The minister also highlighted the government’s target to train around 800,000 participants this year across various ICT disciplines, reflecting an ongoing effort to build a strong pipeline of digital talent equipped for evolving labour market demands.
For his part, Eng. Khaled Ibrahim welcomed co-operation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, expressing the Chamber’s commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with the government to support the digital economy and reinforce Egypt’s position as a regional technology hub.
