Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk affirmed that the government is moving forward with accelerating Egypt’s digital transformation agenda to facilitate services for citizens and investors across various sectors.
Speaking during the inauguration of the upgraded data centre at the Government Electronic Certification Authority on Tuesday, Kouchouk stated that a comprehensive package of cybersecurity and protection services has been introduced for automated government systems to ensure integration between electronic signatures, digital government applications, and secure data exchange.
The minister added that the government is studying the establishment of electronic seal and signature issuance centres across Egypt’s governorates to facilitate access for public sector employees and reduce operational costs. He also revealed plans to launch a backup government electronic signature exchange centre to ensure the continuity of services during emergencies and crises.
Major General Mohamed El-Badry, Head of the Government Electronic Certification Authority at the Ministry of Finance, said that the development of the centre included a comprehensive upgrade of its hardware and software infrastructure, enhancing its capacity to provide highly secure and accurate services to key government digital platforms. These include Egypt’s National Single Window for Foreign Trade (Nafeza), the electronic payment and collection system, the law enforcement system used by public prosecution offices and certain courts, and the New Administrative Capital’s digital systems.
