As Egypt marks the 44th anniversary of Sinai Liberation, the government has placed special emphasis on advancing the higher education and scientific research sector across the Sinai Peninsula and the Canal cities.
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Abdelaziz Konsowa noted that numerous major national and development projects in Sinai have been implemented, with total investments hitting around LE25.6 billion, alongside ongoing efforts to establish new faculties, laboratories and training workshops, according to a press statement issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scieitific Research on Saturday.
The minister highlighted that Egypt’s higher education system has witnessed marked expansion in recent years, through the establishment of new universities, the hosting of branches of international universities, or the introduction of joint programmes offering dual degrees. This reflects the diversity of the system — spanning public, private, national, and technological universities. He added that such diversity is aimed at meeting the evolving demands of the global labour market, while strengthening academic and research co-operation among educational institutions, thereby opening broader prospects for scientific partnerships and contributing to the preparation of highly qualified human capital.
