The Egyptian Health and Population Ministry announced on Sunday listing oncology medications as well as modern biological medications as part of the treatment protocol at State expense in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to alleviate burdens on citizens.
Spokesman for the ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar directed holding periodical meetings of the higher committees for tumor treatment, presidential initiatives and blood diseases to update treatment protocols in a bid to improve treatment rates.
Director of the General Administration of Specialized Medical Councils Dr. Mohamed Zidan unveiled the inclusion of 5 new medications to treat blood diseases at state expense, including medications to treat chronic leukemia, bone marrow failure resulting from an increase in marrow cells, and anemia.
He also referred to the inclusion of a new drug to treat patients diagnosed with nephritis.
He added that the new decisions come as part of the ministry’s keenness to provide an integrated treatment service at the state’s expense.
