Egypt, Libya Chiefs of Staff discuss ways to boost defence ties

Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa met in Cairo on Tuesday the Chief of General Staff of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Lieutenant General Khaled Haftar, and his accompanying delegation.

Discussions during the meeting addressed a number of issues of mutual interest, focusing on ways to strengthen military and security co-operation between the Egyptian and Libyan armed forces.

Lieutenant General Khalifa praised the deep-rooted historical ties between the two brotherly countries, stressing the importance of continued coordination and unifying efforts to confront shared challenges and to bolster security and stability across all Libyan territories.

For his part, Lieutenant General Haftar expressed his profound appreciation for Egypt’s steadfast support for the Libyan people and voiced hope that the coming period would witness greater co-operation between the armed forces of both countries.

The meeting was attended by a number of senior Egyptian and Libyan military commanders.
