CAIRO – Egypt’s Prosecutor General Mohamed Shawki Ayad said that the country has a comprehensive counter-terrorism strategy encompassing security, legislative, and ideological measures.
These remarks came during a five-day regional workshop hosted in Cairo with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, focused on improving international cooperation in terrorism prevention.
Shawki hailed Egypt’s efforts to form international partnerships to stop terrorist financing and block the movement of foreign terrorist fighters.
He also called for increased international and regional collaboration, describing terrorism as a cross-border threat to national and global security. He also underlined the need to modernize counterterrorism tools to meet evolving threats.
The workshop concluded with recommendations to enhance information sharing, expand training programs, and improve technical cooperation across the region to build more effective national capabilities.
