Egypt praised the UAE ‘s successful organization of the 28th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and reaching a consensus on a number of historical decisions pertaining to climate.
A statement issued by the Foreign Ministry Wednesday hailed the UAE’s efforts in pressing ahead with international drives to address key international issues, garnering required support to put all climate-related actions into effect, in line with agreed upon principles in this regard, along with the conclusion of the “global stocktake”, the first assessment of global progress in implementing the 2015 Paris Agreement and the framework of the Global Goal of Adaption.
Egypt said the UAE’s success in this respect is an added value to Arab achievements, especially following the success realized in COP27 that Egypt hosted in the Red Sea Resort City of Sharm el-Sheikh in 2022, according to the statement.
Meantime, Foreign Minister and President of the COP27 Sameh Shoukry congratulated COP28 President-Designate, Dr. Sultan al-Jaber over the success of the gathering.
