Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati on Monday met his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, on the sidelines of the resumed 165th session of the Arab League Council at ministerial level in Amman.
The two ministers reaffirmed their commitment to boosting political, economic and investment co-operation, building on recent high-level exchanges between the two countries. They also stressed the importance of the ongoing preparations for the 14th session of the Egyptian-Kuwaiti Joint Committee, due in Kuwait, the Foreign Ministry said late on Monday.
The talks covered regional developments, with both sides calling for closer Arab coordination to address regional challenges and support security and stability.
The two chief diplomats underlined the importance of safeguarding Gulf security as an integral part of the Arab national security and reiterated support for state sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs.
Discussing the Palestinian cause, they ministers stressed the need for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, unhindered humanitarian aid access, and rejection of any displacement of Palestinians.
They reaffirmed support for a two-state solution based on the 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of an independent Palestinian state.
