Egyptian Minister of Higher Education Dr Khaled Abdel Ghaffar asserted that Egypt is keen on supporting co-operation ties with all the friendly African countries and presenting all forms of support to foreign students studying at Egyptian universities.
Abdel Ghaffar lauded historic relations binding Egypt and Sierra Leone in the different domains especially the scientific, educational and cultural ones.
During his meeting with Seirra Leonean Foreign Minister David Francis and Sierra Leone Ambassador to Egypt Morie Fofana and their accompanying delegation, Abdel Ghaffar said that Egypt is ready to present all kinds of support to the educational Sierra Leonean institutions and co-operation in research fields of mutual interest, including water, energy and agriculture.
Abdel Ghaffar said that his ministry eases all hindrances facing the Sierra Leonean students studying at Egyptian universities and presents all facilitation needed for them.
The minister pointed out to the “Study in Egypt” initiative which allows presenting bigger education opportunities for foreign students to study at Egyptian universities in different domains.
Meanwhile, Francis asserted the distinguished ties between Egypt and Sierra Leone in the different domains, lauding Egypt’s pioneering role in supporting its African brethren especially in the educational and scientific fields.
He expressed hope over increasing co-operation with Egypt in the different domains and presenting more grants to the Sierra Leonean students to study in Egypt.
During the meeting, both sides discussed means to promote scientific and education ties between both countries and inking bilateral co-operation agreement between the Egyptian universities and their Sierra Leonean counterparts in addition to increasing educational grants presented to the Sierra Leonean students to study in the different specialisations especially entrepreneurship and technical education.
