CAIRO – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reiterated on Sunday Egypt’s keenness on the success of the coming Arab summit to take place in Baghdad on May 17.

The President also voiced Egypt’s full support of the Iraqi presidency of the coming summit, especially in light of the current circumstances in the Arab region that require rallying efforts of all brotherly Arab countries. Sisi made the remarks during his meeting with Iraqi Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty.

The meeting tackled boosting bilateral relations in the economic, trade and investment domains and ways of exploring new vistas of cooperation between the two countries.

Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el Shenawi said the Iraqi minister handed President Sisi an invitation to attend the 34th Arab summit and the fifth session of the Arab Economic and Social Summit to take place in Baghdad on May 17.

President Sisi expressed his appreciation for the Iraqi president and premier, lauding the deep-rooted and close ties between Egypt and Iraq. The two sides exchanged viewpoints on developments in Palestine and Syria and ways to restore regional stability. Both sides emphasized the centrality of the Palestinian cause to the Arab world, firmly rejecting any displacement of Palestinians from their land. (MENA)
