Egypt’s Minister of Trade and Industry Niven Gamea asserted the keenness of the Ministry of Trade on boosting co-operation between the Egyptian and the UAE private sectors to establish industrial and investment partnerships to develop joint economic ties.

This came during Gamea’s meeting with Director General of the Emirates Defense Companies Council (EDCC) Anas Saeed al Otaiba and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting tackled the opportunities and potentials of industrial and investment cooperation between Egypt and the UAE in the coming stage.

Gamea said that the meeting took up the potentials of establishing industrial partnerships between the Egyptian and the UAE companies to produce for the local market and export to the markets in Europe and Africa and benefiting from the strategic position of Egypt.

The Egyptian government provides a bundle of distinguished incentives to the companies producing and exporting in the Egyptian market via the new investment law and the new exports support program, Gamea said.

Gamea added that the African market is one of the most important markets being targeted by Egyptian exports within the current period, saying the government supports shipping fees to African states by 80%.

She said the ministry fully supports all Egyptian and UAE partnerships whether in the Egyptian or African markets.

Gamea asserted the importance of boosting cooperation between Egypt and the UAE in the field of small and medium enterprises, adding that Egypt has big expertise in this field.

Gamea said that a number of economic and investment activities will be organized as part of the Egyptian pavilion in Dubai Expo 2020 including a session under the rubric of “investment in Egypt”.

For his part, Otaiba asserted the keenness of the EDCC to boost cooperation with the Egyptian business community in a number of main industrial sectors to produce in the Egyptian market and export to regional and international markets.

Egypt represents a distinguished industrial and investment destination, adding the importance of creating a strategy to encourage more UAE exports to the Egyptian market and the Egyptian exports to the UAE markets.
