Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi discussed on Tuesday security of navigation in the Red Sea, in light of its significance in international trade.
This came during their meeting today at the Egyptian foreign ministry, said spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.
Shoukry said Egypt was keen on enhancing consultation and coordination with Jordan, whether at the summit level or at the ministerial level.
Abu Zeid added that their discussions are good in face of common challenges, noting the two sides seek to find solutions to the political and security crises plaguing the region.
Shoukry and Safadi also exchanged views regarding developments of the situation in Gaza and efforts aimed at reaching a ceasefire.
The two ministers reaffirmed the importance of advancing co-operation within the framework of the tripartite co-operation mechanism linking Egypt, Jordan and Iraq, for the benefit of the trio.
