Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati met on Saturday with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
The two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and exchanged views on the latest regional developments.
During the meeting, Abdel-Aati reaffirmed Egypt’s full support for Jordan, stressing Cairo’s solidarity with Amman during the current sensitive period. He underscored Egypt’s firm rejection and condemnation of any attacks targeting the Jordanian Kingdom.
The Egyptian foreign minister also reviewed Cairo’s intensive efforts to de-escalate tensions across the region. The two ministers exchanged views on recent developments in the negotiation track between the United States and Iran, emphasising the importance of intensifying joint efforts and maintaining close coordination to support de-escalation and bring an end to ongoing conflicts.
Discussions during the meeting also addressed the Palestinian issue, particularly developments in the Gaza Strip. Both ministers stressed the importance of fully implementing the second phase of the plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, and ensuring the unimpeded flow of humanitarian, relief, and medical aid to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
They also highlighted the need for the national committee tasked with administering Gaza to begin operating from within the territory, alongside the swift deployment of an international stabilisation force to support the transitional phase.
The two sides further expressed their firm rejection and condemnation of continued Israeli violations in the West Bank.
The two foreign ministers agreed to continue joint efforts to strengthen the deep-rooted, fraternal ties between the two countries, build on existing coordination mechanisms, and maintain consultation on regional issues of mutual concern, in a manner that serves shared interests and meets the aspirations of both peoples.
