Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati met on Thursday with members of the Egyptian-Japanese Business Council.
During the meeting, Abdel-Aati reviewed the positive developments in the Egyptian economy thanks to the economic measures implemented by the government to improve the investment climate.
Abdel-Aati highlighted Egypt’s commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with Japan, including plans to establish a Japanese industrial zone within the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) to expand the presence of Japanese companies and enable them to benefit from the incentives and competitive advantages offered by the zone.
The foreign minister stressed the importance of increasing Japanese investments in Egypt to better reflect the significant potential of the strategic partnership between the two countries and the wide range of investment opportunities available in the Egyptian market.
Abdel-Aati reviewed the government’s efforts to support Japanese investors, including a dedicated follow-up mechanism for Japanese companies at the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI).
He further invited the Japanese business community to capitalise on the promising opportunities available in several priority sectors, particularly new and renewable energy, infrastructure, water desalination, electric vehicle manufacturing, and clean energy-related industries.
The minister also expressed his aspiration to continue co-operation with the Egyptian-Japanese Business Council to attract additional Japanese investments, thereby elevating the level of economic and trade co-operation between the two countries.
