Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker commended the outstanding political relations between Egypt and Japan, highlighting the influential participation of the Japanese side in the Egyptian electricity projects over the past decades.
The minister’s remarks were made during his meeting with Japanese Ambassador in Cairo Oka Hiroshi and a delegation of the Japanese companies operating in the field of renewable energy and green hydrogen fields. The meeting covered means of enhancing the joint cooperation between the sides.
In a statement released by the Electricity Ministry on Tuesday, Shaker said the Japanese companies are reliable partner and has a great contribution to Egypt’s electricity projects including the generation stations and distribution grid, as well as renewable energy projects, welcoming the enhanced cooperation with the Japanese companies and their expertise in upping the production of energy based on new and renewable resources with the aim of increasing its share to more than 42 percent by the year 2030.
Meanwhile, the Japanese ambassador praised the depth of Egyptian-Japanese ties, asserting his country’s resolve to enhance such relations and commended the achievements made in the renewable energy production projects in Egypt.
He also said Tokyo was looking forward to exchanging expertise in the field of electricity with a special focus on supporting Egypt as being a gate for Japan in Africa.
