CAIRO – The ongoing coordination between the Egyptian and the Iraqi side comes as part of activating joint co-operation on ways to implement a group of projects by the Egyptian companies in Iraq, affirmed Executive Director of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) Mohamed Abdel Wahab.
The projects include the areas of infrastructure, electricity, urban development along with establishing industrial complexes, Abdel Wahab said during his meeting Thursday with Iraq’s Central Bank governor Moustafa Ghaleb and in the presence of Iraqi Ambassador to Egypt Ahmed Nayef.
During the meeting, Abdel Wahab reviewed the outcome of cooperation between Egypt’s GAFI and the Iraqi National Investment Commission (NIC) with the aim of bolstering co-operation ties with Iraq in the various economic domains.
GAFI is keen on providing all means of support to the Iraqi investors looking for investment or business opportunities in Egypt, he further said.
The Iraqi official, for his part, affirmed the close ties binding Egypt and Iraq in the various spheres.
The Iraqi banking sector is keen on meeting all the financial needs of the Egyptian investors in Iraq, he affirmed.
