The Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS), affiliated with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, is stepping up efforts to expand the presence of Egyptian products in the Iraqi market by organising business-to-business (B2B) meetings between Egyptian companies and Iraqi importers.
The meetings, held in co-operation with the Export Council for Chemical Industries and Fertilisers, aim to strengthen direct communication between exporters and buyers, identify market needs and turn trade opportunities into actual export contracts.
The initiative follows directives from Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid to intensify export promotion, open new markets and strengthen the presence of Egyptian products in Arab and regional markets.
First Undersecretary of the Ministry and ECS Chief Abdel Aziz El-Sherif said the meetings form part of efforts to support exporters by connecting Egyptian companies with importers and buyers in promising markets.
He described Iraq as an important and promising Arab market, citing strong demand for a range of products and the competitive advantages of Egyptian goods.
According to the latest Iraqi statistics, Egyptian exports to Iraq reached approximately $815 million in 2024, up from $697 million in 2023, an increase of $118 million, or nearly 17%. El-Sherif said the figures highlight significant potential for further growth.
He stressed the importance of stepping up promotional activities and direct business meetings, particularly in sectors where Egyptian industry has competitive production and export capabilities.
The ECS, in coordination with export councils and the private sector, is identifying export opportunities, connecting Egyptian companies with importers and major buyers, and arranging meetings with qualified businesses.
