Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hindi met with Taha Khalifa, Intel’s Regional Director for the Middle East and Africa, to discuss strengthening collaboration in digital infrastructure, capacity building, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
Hindi emphasized the ministry’s commitment to expanding AI capabilities by preparing skilled cadres to support its applications across state sectors. He noted that cooperation with leading global companies is central to achieving the goals of Egypt’s second National AI Strategy, highlighting cybersecurity, digital innovation, and talent development as pillars of the country’s digital transformation.
Khalifa expressed Intel’s readiness to partner with Egypt in building digital skills, particularly through specialized training programs in cybersecurity, AI, and advanced infrastructure technologies.
The meeting also reviewed the efforts of the ministry’s Applied Innovation Center in developing generative AI applications based on Egypt’s large-scale language model “Karnak,” rooted in Arab culture and Egyptian identity. Both sides agreed to draft a memorandum of understanding to frame cooperation, including training programs for government employees and executives, and support for initiatives such as the “Digital Pioneers” program.
Discussions further explored organizing technical workshops on global technology trends, with Intel offering expertise in AI and cybersecurity.
