Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said on Monday Egypt is in intensive contacts with different parties to achieve calm, and stop escalations between Palestinians and Israelis, presidential spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
This came during a telephone call the president received Monday from his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulides.
Sisi and Christodoulides agreed on the importance of concerted efforts at the regional and international levels to urge the parties to give priority to self-restraint and to move away from the cycle of violence, in order to spare civilians the consequences of escalations.
Sisi said Egypt would continue intensive contacts with various parties in order to achieve calm and stop escalation, while stressing the importance of dealing with the Palestinian issue from a comprehensive perspective that addresses the root causes of the crisis and achieves sustainable stability in the region.
