Raffi Gregorian, Deputy to the Under-Secretary-General and Director of the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism, has said that Egypt is a key player in the fight against global terrorism.
Gregorian, in statements to MENA correspondent in Jordan, hailed as important Egypt’s role at the regional and international levels.
For that reason Egypt has been chosen to chair the next anti-terrorism forum, he added.
Having fallen victim to terrorism for long decades, Egypt has gained experience in countering terrorism and can very well share it with others, Gregorian noted.
He touched upon an agreement endorsed in March with the aim to develop a new strategy to fight terrorism with the help of Arab countries. Work is underway to implement this strategy, the UN official noted.
