Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation, and Egyptians Abroad, together with Minister of State for Information, Diaa Rashwan, held an extensive briefing for accredited regional and international media representatives.

The session took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, in coordination with the Foreign Press Centre of the State Information Service, demonstrating Egypt’s commitment to clarifying its position on regional tensions and military developments.

During the session, Minister Abdel-Aati outlined Egypt’s proactive diplomatic initiatives to de-escalate regional conflicts.

In this respect, the minister reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast commitment to dialogue and diplomacy, emphasising solidarity with Gulf partners, as well as Jordan and Iraq, in the face of Iranian aggression.

He stressed that the security of the Gulf is inseparable from Egypt’s national security and that Egypt is ready to provide full support to its regional partners, dedicating diplomatic efforts to achieving peace.

The foreign minister also highlighted Egypt’s engagement in promoting dialogue between the United States and Iran, in collaboration with regional and international partners, to reduce tensions, prevent wider instability, and mitigate potential global economic consequences.

Addressing the Palestinian issue, Minister Abdel-Aati condemned Israeli annexation and settlement activities in the West Bank, noting Egypt’s efforts to implement the second phase of international peace plans, including the scheduled withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.

Egypt is also training Palestinian police officers to strengthen the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, enabling the Palestinian Authority to resume full governance across Gaza and the West Bank.

On Lebanon, Abdel-Aati reiterated condemnation of Israeli incursions in the south and called for full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, supporting measures that strengthen state sovereignty and restrict weapons to the state, while providing over 1,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid to displaced populations.

Regarding Sudan, Minister Abdel-Aati further reviewed Egypt’s diplomatic efforts through the Quartet, in coordination with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States, to secure a humanitarian truce and comprehensive ceasefire.

He underlined Egypt’s non-negotiable red lines, including the protection of Sudan’s unity, territorial integrity, and state institutions.

Minister Rashwan, for his part, emphasised the media’s crucial role in conveying accurate information, highlighting Egypt’s alignment with Gulf partners and warning against social media narratives that distort official positions.

He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to transparency and objective coverage.

The briefing concluded with a session addressing questions on regional escalation, Lebanon and Sudan, Egyptian water security, international partnerships, and other pressing matters.
