Voters started casting their ballots at 9 am on Thursday for the second and final day of the first phase of the House of Representatives elections in the annulled districts, which total 19, in addition to the runoff for the same phase in the second constituency of It’s district in Fayoum Governorate.

During a field tour early Thursday, MENA correspondents observed intensified security presence around polling stations ahead of the start of voting at 9 a.m.

Police forces completed sweeping the external electoral perimeter of the polling centers and securing all main routes and roads leading to them.

MENA correspondents also observed increased security presence at metro stations, railway stations, and taxi stands to ensure voters can reach the polling stations easily and smoothly.

Senior security officials conducted field inspections of the forces participating in the election-security plan to ensure their readiness to carry out the tasks assigned to them. They stressed the importance of good treatment of citizens and taking into account humanitarian considerations, especially for the elderly and people with special needs, in line with the directives of Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfik.

Voting began on Wednesday for the individual-seat contests in the annulled districts of the first phase of the parliamentary elections, which number 19, in addition to the runoff for the same phase in the second constituency of Itsa district in Fayoum Governorate.
