CAIRO – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar affirmed strength of relations between Egypt and France as well as Egyptian government’s keenness on enhancing partnerships with French health institutions through bilateral agreements aimed at developing health services, exchanging expertise and improving efficiency of healthcare system.

During the minister’s meeting Wednesday with Cécile Couprie, Regional Director for North Africa at the French Development Agency (AFD) and her accompanying delegation the two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral co-operation in the health sector, follow up on ongoing projects and explore prospects for future collaboration.

Official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said in a statement, that the meeting addressed progress of joint projects with the AFD in the field of healthcare, in addition to reviewing future proposals aimed at improving the quality of healthcare services provided to citizens. 

Opportunities for cooperation on a new project in partnership with the European Union (EU) were also discussed, focusing on the development of health facilities in Egypt in support of the State’s plan to enhance the quality and expand the scope of healthcare services.

The minister of health extended an official invitation to the French delegation to participate in the third edition of the World Conference on Population, Health and Human Development, scheduled to be held from November 10 to 13, 2025, in order to strengthen scientific and practical exchange in health-related fields.

For her part, the AFD official voiced her appreciation for the remarkable progress achieved by Egypt in developing its healthcare system, affirming the Agency’s commitment to continuing co-operation and providing technical and financial support for the implementation of joint projects, with a view to contributing to the improvement of healthcare quality and access.
