French Foreign Ministry Spokesman Christophe Lemoine has described President Emmanuel Macron’s recent visit to Egypt as a significant step in deepening bilateral ties and reinforcing a strategic partnership between the two countries.
In a statement to the Middle East News Agency (MENA), Lemoine highlighted the three-day visit as comprehensive and impactful, covering a wide range of topics—from regional diplomacy to economic cooperation. At the heart of the discussions were the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the strengthening of economic and political collaboration between Cairo and Paris.
President Macron held high-level talks with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, during which he expressed France’s full support for the Arab initiative aimed at resolving the Gaza conflict. Lemoine emphasized that the visit underlined France’s commitment to a diplomatic resolution and reinforced coordination on key regional issues.
On the economic front, the visit featured the Egypt-France Business Forum and several new agreements aimed at enhancing bilateral trade and investment. According to Lemoine, these engagements reflect growing economic synergy and mutual interest in long-term collaboration.
As part of his itinerary, Macron visited the city of Arish near the Rafah crossing, where he met with humanitarian organizations managing aid deliveries to Gaza. Lemoine noted that while France continues to dispatch humanitarian aid, delivery is hindered by Israeli restrictions. He affirmed that France is engaged in continuous dialogue with Israeli authorities, urging the immediate reopening of crossings to ensure the flow of essential supplies.
The visit concluded with a mutual agreement to elevate Egypt-France relations to the level of a strategic partnership, marking a new chapter in bilateral cooperation anchored in shared priorities, regional stability, and economic progress.
