The Egyptian Ministry of International Co-operation released on Sunday the full recommendations of the Egypt Forum for International Co-operation and Development Finance, held- for the first time in Cairo- earlier this month in the presence of over 1,500 participants.
During the opening session of the forum, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi highlighted his administration’s interest in pushing multilateral co-operation forward.
The president also underscored the importance of supporting development.
The final recommendations of the forum included the need for the international community and international financial institutions to support developing and emerging countries while they strive to achieve green recovery.
They stressed the importance of the role of the private sector in advancing development efforts.
“Governments alone cannot face all challenges,” International Co-operation Minister Rania al-Mashat said in a statement on the final recommendations of the forum.
She added that the forum also welcomed the exchange of experiences and expertise between Egypt and friendly states with the aim of transferring knowledge and sharing experiences.
“The forum also emphasised the importance of multilateral co-operation to confront the challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic,” the minister said.
She added that the forum also called for seizing the opportunities offered by the pandemic, including digital transformation.
It called, she said, for strengthening South-South and triangular co-operation to support the efforts of developing and emerging countries to achieve development.
Minister al-Mashat noted that the recommendations of the forum also included one for her ministry to work with multilateral and bilateral development partners to put these recommendations into effect with the aim of achieving the sustainable development goals.
The minister said the pandemic had made it difficult for a large number of delegations and international participants to make it physically to the forum.
Nevertheless, she said, the event had witnessed an active virtual and actual attendance and effective, influential and rich discussions.
