Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) Mostafa Waziry praised the Central Administration of Ports and Archaeological Units in Egyptian Ports for foiling bids to smuggle 117 artefacts abroad in February.

Waziry was addressing an SCA board meeting chaired by Tourism and Antiquities Minister Ahmed Issa Tuesday night.

The six-month exhibition, “Ramses and the Gold of the Pharaohs” at the De Young Museum in San Francisco ended on February 12 and preparations are underway to move the exhibits to La Grande Halle de La Villette, Paris, where they will be on display from April 7 to September 6, 2023, Waziry said.

Archaeological discoveries were made last month in Minya, Menoufia, Damietta, Bahariya Oasis, Saqqara and Dakahlia and work began at the Giza Pyramids, Saqqara, Gharbia, and Tell al-Fara’in, he added.
