Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatti held a phone call on Friday with Masad Boutros, senior adviser to the US president for Arab and African affairs, to discuss the situation in Lebanon amid rising regional tensions, the Foreign Ministry said.

The ministry said the call came as part of ongoing consultations over what it described as the “dangerous” situation in Lebanon, citing Israeli military operations and repeated violations of Lebanese sovereignty.

According to the statement, Abdelatti reiterated Egypt’s condemnation of Israeli strikes in Lebanon and rejected any infringement on the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He said the attacks constituted a “clear violation” of international law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and warned they undermine efforts to preserve stability in Lebanon and the wider region.

He also reaffirmed Egypt’s support for Lebanese state institutions and the Lebanese army, and said Cairo would continue diplomatic efforts to halt the escalation and mobilise international support to ease the humanitarian impact.

Boutros praised Egypt’s role in supporting stability in Lebanon and efforts to contain tensions, adding that continued coordination between Cairo and Washington remains important as regional developments unfold, the ministry said.
