Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry underlined on Sunday the importance of reaching a ceasefire and allowing the safe, full and sustainable entry of humanitarian assistance into Gaza.
Israeli forces have to stop blocking the entry of assistance or withholding part of the aid cargo in a bid to tighten the noose on residents of Gaza Strip and create unbearable conditions for them, Shoukry said during a meeting with Qatari International Cooperation Minister Lolwah Al Khater.
The meeting is part of the Qatari official’s visit to Egypt to follow up on delivery of Qatari assistance to Arish airport en route to Rafah border terminal.
Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said the two ministers discussed in detail ways of coordinating efforts to secure the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza as Shoukry stressed that the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza requires full, safe and sustainable entry of relief aid.
They talked about the meetings and contacts held by Egypt and Qatar to stop the war in the Gaza Strip as the two underlined the importance of reaching an unconditional ceasefire.
They reiterated the importance that international sides would shoulder their responsibility towards Israeli violations against civilians and civilian facilities and hold all perpetrators accountable for these violations.
Shoukry expressed Egypt’s appreciation for efforts exerted by Qatar to ceasefire and let humanitarian assistance into the coastal enclave.
The Qatari minister reiterated keenness on coordinating with Egypt to end continued Israeli attacks against the Gaza Strip, expressing rejection of attempts to displace the Palestinians inside and outside the Strip.
