Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdel-Aati, discussed in a phone call on Friday with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam the rapidly evolving developments and ongoing military escalation in Lebanon.

According to the Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf, the call addressed the latest developments related to the repeated Israeli attacks on Lebanon and incursions into Lebanese territory.

Minister Abdel-Aati reiterated Egypt’s categorical rejection of these assaults and any violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, stressing that such actions constitute a clear breach of international law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

He also reaffirmed Cairo’s support for the efforts of Lebanese state institutions to extend their authority across the entire national territory.

He stressed the need for an immediate halt to Israeli violations and attacks to create a conducive environment for launching negotiations that could lead to tangible results on the ground and help consolidate de-escalation.

For his part, Salam briefed Abdel-Aati on Lebanon’s urgent requirements for managing the escalating displacement crisis and deteriorating humanitarian conditions.

In response, Abdel-Aati noted that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has directed immediate efforts to provide aid, aiming to support the Lebanese people and mitigate the impact of internal displacement.
