Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry left for Russia on Sunday to take part in the ministerial meeting of BRICS, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.
BRICS is an intergovernmental organization comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Shoukry will address the first session of the meeting on cooperation within BRICS grouping and other regional and international issues.
He will also deliver a word on the second session of the meeting on formulas of cooperation with partner countries, the spokesman said.
Shoukry will hold several bilateral meetings with participating foreign ministers on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest, especially the war on Gaza and ongoing efforts to let in humanitarian assistance into Gaza.
Egypt’s membership in the BRICS bloc officially came into effect this January.
