Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdel-Aati held phone talks on Thursday with US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, as part of ongoing efforts to reduce tensions in the region.
According to the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, Minister Abdel-Aati stressedthe need for urgent action to calm the situation and secure a ceasefire. He warned that Israeli attacks on Lebanon undermine regional and international efforts to restore stability. He also reaffirmed Egypt’s firm position on respecting Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and called for an end to all Israeli attacks to prevent further escalation.
In a separate call, the minister also spoke with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot. Both sides discussed the escalating developments in the region, especially in Lebanon. They agreed on the urgent need to stop Israeli attacks and achieve de-escalation at this critical time. They also stressed the importance of international support for Lebanon’s national institutions to help ease humanitarian suffering and restore security and stability.
