Egypt’s Minister of Industry, Khaled Hashim, said the state offers promising investment opportunities in the engineering industries sector, citing the availability of raw materials and skilled labour as key advantages supporting efforts to expand exports and access new international markets.
Speaking at the 5th edition of the Engineering Export Excellence Awards (EXXA) on Friday, sponsored by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, the minister said the event serves as a platform to recognize outstanding exporters and encourage companies to strengthen the global presence of Egyptian products.
During the ceremony, awards were presented across six categories, including top young exporter, local manufacturing, export innovation, export success story, green manufacturing and artificial intelligence in manufacturing.
The minister said the diversity of award categories reflects the ability of Egyptian industry to keep pace with global manufacturing trends, noting that engineering industries are among the seven priority sectors under Egypt’s Industrial Strategy 2030.
Separately, Sherif El-Sayyad, chairman of the Engineering Export Council of Egypt, said the sector continues to post strong export growth despite regional and economic challenges. Engineering exports rose to about $2.5 billion during January-April 2026, up from roughly $2.1 billion in the same period a year earlier, representing growth of nearly 20 per cent.
