Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty Thursday called on US companies to expand their investments in Egypt, localize supply chains and contribute to building competitive production platforms that serve regional markets.

The foreign minister made the remarks during a meeting with senior officials of the American Chamber of Commerce, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The meeting highlighted the longstanding economic partnership between Egypt and the United States, which is deemed the cornerstone of strategic relations between the two countries.

Abdelatty emphasized Egypt’s commitment to strengthening economic, trade, and investment cooperation, citing the Egyptian–American economic forum that took place in Cairo in May 2025 and was co-organized by the American Chamber of Commerce and the US–Egypt Business Council, with a large US business delegation in attendance.

The forum represented an important turning point in advancing cooperation between government and the private sector, Abdelatty said, adding that Egypt looks forward to hosting the second round of the forum in Cairo during the first quarter of 2026.

He reviewed Egypt’s competitive advantages for American investors, saying that the country’s strategic location and its extensive network of free trade agreements and regional supply chains, position Egypt as an ideal hub for accessing African, Middle Eastern, and European markets.

Abdelatty underlined the significance of expanding business-to-business ties between Egypt and the United States in promising sectors, particularly manufacturing, logistics, energy, digital infrastructure, pharmaceuticals and healthcare systems, as well as tourism.

These sectors are well-positioned to attract fresh investments, boost exports, and generate new job opportunities, he noted.

He further reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to remain a reliable partner for American investors.
