Egypt is set to benefit from a major new industrial investment as plans move forward to establish a large-scale aluminum production facility in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone).
Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli met Saturday with Cui Hongsong, Chairman of China’s Henan Zhongfu, a subsidiary of Henan Yulian Energy Group, to discuss the company’s plans for a $2 billion aluminum plant in the East Port Said Industrial Zone.
The meeting, attended by Deputy PM Hussein Eissa and SCZone Chairman Walid Gamal El-Din, focused on the facility’s development across one million square meters. As the first facility of its kind in the area, the project aligns with Egypt’s broader strategy to revitalize its industrial sector.
Madbouli emphasized the government’s full support, noting that the plant will provide essential inputs for multiple industries and create opportunities for partnerships with Egypt Aluminum. SCZone Chairman Gamal El-Din added that the project strengthens the zone’s standing as a global industrial and logistics hub for strategic heavy industries.
