CAIRO – Egypt expresses its “deep concern” about the continuing violence against the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territories.

On Thursday, three Palestinians were killed in the West Bank city of Jenin.

In a statement on Friday, the Foreign Ministry said that during 2022, the number of Palestinian martyrs exceeded 200 persons, the largest number of Palestinian martyrs that has been recorded for many years.

This portends the danger of the deterioration of the situation towards more violence and bloodshed, warning against the serious repercussions of the continuation of the current escalation on efforts made to try to revive the peace process, the Foreign Ministry added.

Egypt calls on the international community and major countries to shoulder their responsibilities towards calming the situation and not being complacent with the growing escalation that leads to violence and encouraging the parties to create an environment conducive to break the current stalemate in the peace process, the Foreign Ministry concluded.
