Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar announced on Tuesday the rollout of state-funded treatment services across primary healthcare units, expanding access beyond hospitals to ease congestion and improve patient care, as per the directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The initiative aims to deliver services closer to citizens and advance equitable healthcare access.
Deputy Health Minister Amr Kandil said the service has been successfully activated in 100 primary care facilities across 18 governorates, achieving a 92% completion rate in issuing and processing treatment decisions—highlighting system efficiency and responsiveness.
Kandil added that ongoing field visits are being paid to monitor performance and assess patient satisfaction, while all units are required to submit regular monthly reports to ensure service quality.
The ministry plans to expand the programme to 300 primary healthcare units by the end of 2026. It also plans to activate 100 additional clinics by June and another 100 by December.
This move reflects Egypt’s commitment to building an integrated healthcare system that ensures accessible and dignified treatment for all citizens, while advancing the country’s comprehensive health insurance framework, with primary care at its core.
