Minister of Labour, Hassan Raddad, directed on Sunday the swift implementation of the joint action plan with the World Food Programme (WFP) aimed at enhancing youth employability, developing workforce capabilities, and expanding digital transformation and skills development programmes.
He also approved the allocation of a solar power unit at one of the ministry’s vocational training centres, the equipping of mobile training units, and the integration of a women’s empowerment programme within the co-operation framework, to be implemented across three governorates in Upper Egypt.
The minister made these remarks during a meeting with a WFP delegation led by Country Director in Egypt, Ms Roud El-Halabi, to review progress in joint co-operation and discuss future implementation mechanisms.
He stressed the importance of activating the joint work strategy for the coming phase, with clear timelines for completing shared projects, ensuring measurable results on the ground and enhancing the effectiveness of programmes targeting young people.
He also highlighted the Ministry’s priority of equipping youth with modern and future-oriented skills in line with Egypt’s sustainable development and green economy agenda.
The meeting reviewed the outcomes of existing co-operation, particularly in vocational training, employment, and skills development, as well as ongoing initiatives supporting youth empowerment and alignment with labour market needs.
Discussions further addressed expanding training in green jobs, increasing the use of modern technology in vocational training systems, and strengthening women’s economic participation through targeted qualification programmes.
For her part, Country Director of the World Food Programme in Egypt expressed appreciation for co-operation with the Ministry of Labour, reaffirming the WFP’s commitment to supporting youth skills development, empowering vulnerable groups, and contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals.
