CAIRO – Emigration Minister Nabila Makram met Sunday with head of the EU delegation to Egypt Christian Berger to discuss means of boosting bilateral cooperation and exchanging expertise to prepare for the post-Covid stage worldwide.
Makram hailed as strong relations between Cairo and the EU at all levels, the Ministry said in a statement.
The meeting took up efforts exerted by the Emigration Ministry and government bodies concerned to solve the problem of Egyptians stranded in a number of countries due to the suspension of flights in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Berger, for his part, stressed the need to bring closer peoples of the EU and Egypt.
He told Makram that since assuming his post as EU envoy here he has been acting to get firsthand information about projects that are being implemented in Egypt, as well as efforts exerted in various fields.
He was also pleased with what he called the “big success” of the Egyptian government in dealing with the corona virus pandemic, noting this reflected the strength of Egypt’s economy and its successful reform program.
Berger expressed willingness to work with Markam on different files, atop of which cooperation in the post-Covid stage.
