Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati and Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid Saleh received on MondayEritrean President’s Economic Adviser Hagos Gebrehiwet and Eritrean Trade and Industry Minister Nasruddin Saleh. The meeting underscored Egypt’s commitment to deepening strategic relations with Eritrea, particularly in economic, investment, trade, and industrial fields, in support of Eritrea’s national development efforts.
Minister Abdel-Aati reaffirmed Egypt’s full support for Eritrea’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, stressing the importance of building on high-level exchanges and enhancing coordination to boost trade and encourage joint investments. He highlighted Egypt’s readiness to provide technical assistance and capacity building in priority sectors, while encouraging greater participation of Egyptian private companies in the Eritrean market.
Minister Farid emphasized the potential of Eritrea’s market and the importance of strengthening ties between business communities in both countries. He pointed to opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Agreement to expand Egyptian exports and regional integration.
The talks also addressed regional issues, including Sudan’s crisis, with both sides agreeing on the need to preserve Sudan’s unity and institutions while rejecting parallel entities. They further discussed Red Sea security, affirming that its governance and stability remain the responsibility of littoral states.
