Egypt elected member of int’l water committee

Egypt’s Ambassador to Italy and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Rome, Bassam Radi, said on Friday that Egypt was unanimously elected in the Global Committee on the Repercussions of Water Scarcity for Agriculture.

The committee comprises a limited number of countries, including the United States, the Netherlands, Mexico, Switzerland, Morocco and Jordan.

Egypt’s election came, during the Rome Water Conference organised by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome.

Radi said that the Egyptian state, led by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, has developed a national strategy for efficient water management, taking into account the growing challenges of water scarcity in Egypt in a bid to develop flexible solutions to boost water security, irrigation and agricultural systems and adaptability to address water scarcity.
