President Sisi receives message from President Guelleh

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi expressed Egypt’s keenness on consolidating relations with Djibouti as he met on Monday a high-level Djiboutian official who carried as message from President Ismail Omar Guelleh on ways of promoting bilateral relations in all fields of mutual interest.

The visiting official, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation and Government Spokesperson of the Republic of Djibouti, Mahmoud Ali Youssef, conveyed to the Egyptian leader the greetings and appreciation of President Guelleh and his desire to strengthen ties with Egypt, , the Presidency Spokesman, Ambassador Mohamed el-Shenawy, said.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, Dr Badr Abdel-Aati, along with Djibouti’s Ambassador to Cairo, Ahmed Ali Berri, attended the meeting.

President Sisi welcomed the Djiboutian President’s message, emphasising the deep-rooted relationship between the two countries.  and Egypt’s keennes to enhancing bilateral co-operation, spokesman Shennawy said. 

The discussions focused on expanding collaboration across various fields of mutual interest, with both sides underscoring the importance of exploring new opportunities for co-operation to serve shared interests and fulfill the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples. 

The meeting also addressed regional developments, particularly in the Horn of Africa, where efforts to restore security and stability were reviewed, along with the evolving situation in Somalia. President Sisi reaffirmed, in this respect, Egypt’s unwavering support for Somalia’s unity, stability, and territorial integrity.  Additionally, discussions covered security in the Red Sea, with both parties agreeing on the importance of joint efforts to restore security in the Bab al-Mandab Strait and normal navigation in the Red Sea.
