Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdel-Aati on Thursday delivered a shipment of humanitarian aid at Beirut Port, weighing about 1,000 tonns of medicines, shelter supplies and food stuff.

The handover was attended by Lebanese officials, including Public Works Minister Fayez Rassamni and Social Affairs Minister Haneen Sayed.

The aid aims to help Lebanon cope with worsening health and humanitarian conditions and ease the burden of internal displacement.

Abdel-Aati conveyed greetings from Egypt’s leadership and people, and stressed that the assistance reflects longstanding ties and Egypt’s firm solidarity with Lebanon, Foreign Ministry spokesman Tamim Khallaf said.

The foreign minister added that the state institutions and civil society in Egypt contributed to shipment, which is intended to support Lebanon’s response to the needs of more than one million displaced people.

Meanwhile, Abdel-Aati strongly condemned Israel’s targeting of Lebanese civilian infrastructure, including bridges and homes, describing it as collective punishment and a clear violation of international humanitarian law.

He said Egypt has conveyed its rejection of these actions to international partners.

He also voiced Egypt’s full support for President Joseph Aoun’s initiative to pursue a diplomatic settlement under international sponsorship.

The minister also called for an immediate halt to Israeli attacks, the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and enabling Lebanese state institutions to exercise authority across all national territory.
