The Egyptian-Cypriote ties witnessed a leap in various domains, especially at political and economic levels over the past years under the reign of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Since Sisi ruled Egypt in 2014, Egyptian-Cypriot relations became an epitome of bilateral ties.
On Tuesday, Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides visited Cairo to meet President Sisi to review means of furthering bilateral ties as well as co-operation vis-a-vis regional and international issues of mutual concern.
During the meeting, Sisi asserted Egypt’s preparedness to receive and coordinate all international aid to the Gaza Strip.
Sisi underlined the importance of international action to push forward the two-state solution and establish an independent Palestinian state with Al Quds as its capital, considering this as the way to realise regional peace and security.
Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said the meeting tackled means of promoting bilateral ties, as well as a host of key files, topped by the energy file.
The talks also tackled regional conditions, including the escalation in the Gaza Strip.
During the meeting, Sisi reviewed Egypt’s efforts to reach a ceasefire in the enclave, urging the international community to shoulder its responsibility in this regard.
Sisi also highlighted Egypt’s intensive efforts to deliver assistance to the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, the Cypriot president lauded the strenuous efforts exerted by Egypt to realise truce, asserting his country’s keenness on continued coordination in this regard, especially under a joint vision for achieving regional peace.
