A delegation accompanying Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi, during his visit to Cyprus, conferred with officials from the Cypriot ministry of energy, commerce and industry in Nicosia on ways to connect Cypriot gas fields to Egyptian infrastructure and facilities for re-export through Egypt to European markets.
This comes within the framework of ongoing coordination and joint efforts between working teams from both sides, aimed at accelerating the implementation of agreed-upon natural gas projects, according to a statement of the Egyptian ministry of petroleum on Thursday.
At the end of the meeting, both sides stressed the importance of continuing technical coordination in the coming phase and holding regular meetings to monitor the implementation of agreed measures, in a manner that serves mutual interests and strengthens the prominent position of both countries in the energy sector.
