Egypt strongly condemned the Israeli Knesset’s approval of a law allowing the execution of Palestinian prisoners, describing it as an unprecedented and dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions. The statement stressed that the legislation undermines fundamental guarantees of fair trial rights.

Egypt warned that the law entrenches systematic discrimination and reinforces an apartheid-like system by applying different standards to Palestinians, in violation of basic principles of justice and equality before the law. It also breaches the legal status of the occupied Palestinian territories, where Israeli legislation does not apply to Palestinian citizens in the West Bank.

The government reiterated earlier warnings against ignoring Israel’s grave violations in the West Bank and Gaza amid ongoing military escalation. Egypt emphasized the serious implications of this measure for stability in the occupied territories and efforts to contain the conflict.

Renewing its categorical rejection of unilateral Israeli policies, Egypt called on the international community to shoulder its legal and moral responsibilities, take firm and immediate positions to stop these flagrant violations, and ensure the protection of the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights in line with international legitimacy.
