Egypt strongly condemned on Thursday the inhumane Israeli targeting of defenseless Palestinians waiting for the arrival of aid trucks in northern Gaza Strip, causing huge casualties.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said targeting innocent civilians waiting to take their share of humanitarian assistance is a shameful crime and a clear violation of the international law and the international humanitarian law.
The ministry called on all key international players and members of the Security Council, especially those blocking a ceasefire resolution, to bear their humanitarian, ethical and legal responsibility to stop the war on the Gaza Strip, provide protection for the Palestinians and get Israel to abide by the international law as being an occupying force.
Egypt reiterated its unwavering stance towards an immediate ceasefire and removal of all hurdles blocking sustainable and unrestricted entry of relief aid into the Strip.
It also reiterated rejection of all attempts aiming at displacing Palestinians.
