CAIRO – Egypt denounced on Friday the blatant attack on the Speaker of the Maldives parliament, who is also the former president, Mohamed Nasheed.
Nasheed and five other persons were injured in the attack.
The Foreign Ministry in a statement said that Egypt wished a speedy recovery for the injured, pledging its support for the government and people of the Maldives in the face of this awful attack.
Egypt also stressed its total rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism, which aim at undermining security and stability, the statement added
